Caribbean Uptempo A musical cocktail of ska, rocksteady, early reggae, calypso, mento and Latin rhythms inspired by the Notting Hill Carnival A space dedicated to to the mixing of beats to dance to and enjoy The idea of this space is born out of the special connection that links the sound ‘made in Jamaica’, oldies but goodies, with the deepest roots of Caribbean rhythms. A nexus that, can be felt here with music oscillating from reggae, rocksteady and ska through to calypso, soca and cumbia and other such styles. Caribbean Uptempo is a multicultural fusion of sound, images and colours that will be run by Francesco Nembokid Selecta, founder of San Lorenzo Carnival in Rome –sister event of the mythical London carnival- and artistic director of the historical Sally Brown in Rome. Also involved in this space will is the artistic collaboration of the legendary Toni Face, ‘soul’ of the Liquidator Music, one of the benchmark record labels for ska, rocksteady and reggae the world over. Türöffnung um 21.00 Uhr, Konzerte ab 21.30 Uhr Mit dabei sind: NÓWFRAGO Mit seinem Debütalbum «In Love With The Blackbird» (Zoey Records/Godbrain) trumpft nówfrago mit einem genuinen Meisterwerk auf. nówfragos Erstling entführt mit betörenden Melodien und aufgekratzt-melancholischen Ohrwürmern. Seine verspielten Klangteppiche erinnern an Exponenten des Trip-Hops, an Musique concrète und an zeitgenössische Songwriter wie Patrick Watson oder Beck. «In Love With The Blackbird» ist ein kreatives DIY-Produkt: Es wurde von nówfrago in Eigenregie produziert und an verschiedenen Orten aufgenommen. Für die Aufnahmen komponierte er im einsamen Norden Norwegens und sammelte Sound-Trouvaillen an seinen Lieblingsorten. Schlagzeug, Perkussion, Melodica, Keyboards und mehr wurden von ihm selber eingespielt. Die Produktionskosten wurden durch Crowdfunding und Eigenmittel gedeckt und das Cover wurde eigenhändig gesiebdruckt. Mit nówfrago meldet sich eine eigenständige und beseelte Stimme – selten klang ein Debütalbum so einzigartig wie«In Love With The Blackbird». Das Werk ist eine Sensation und eine Rarität! THE STRING STRANGLERS The String Stranglers spielen irisch-amerikanischen Gipsy.Folk mit Bluegrass-Einflüssen und einer grossen Portion Punk. Wild, laut und frei interpretierte Folk-Melodien mit akustischen Instrumenten.
